The Venice Effect Senior Guard was created in 2006 as part of the Lakeside Pride organization. Bill Farwig brought the group together to represent Chicago in performances at the 2006 Gay Games VII.

During the summer of 2006, which included performances in the Chicago Memorial Day Parade, the Chicago Gay Pride Parade, and color guard events throughout the Gay Games VII event, the members of the guard decided they wanted to continue performing together. Months later, Bill Farwig and Brian D. Robbins created the Venice Effect Senior Guard.

In 2008, Venice Effect Senior Guard changed their guard mission and vision and opened it’s first winter guard. Venice Effect Senior Guard is a member of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit and competes in the Senior Division.
